Tuesday 6th September

Well again apologies for not having updated this for ages.

On 30th August I had another day out! I went to Southampton hospital for a Look Good Feel Better makeover. This is a charity run time and I was very impressed. There were 12 of us ladies, all suffering form some sort of cancer or another, in various stages. Some like me going through treatment, others having left that far behind, and other maybe starting it.

The 2 hrs started witha  little talk about the charity and the work it does. All the cosmetics are donated by the cosmetic companies and we are all given a "Goodie Bag" worth they say £250 each. As a sceptic I did actually tot up on the internet the actual cost and it was not far off. Needless to say I will not be renewing any of the items! So we were then led through a 12 step process of cleansing, toning, and making up! Well as you know I do not do makeup very much and felt afterwards like a clown! Though the effect was interesting. Using a Chanel mascara was something else. Anyway it was a fun two hours and I have used a few of the ingredents since.

Last Friday I had my third chemo - so now I can say I am halfway through! I must admit that back in June after the op I thought that chemo was going to go on forever and the consultant didn't help much when he said 6 months, when he actually meant 6 treatments! The time seems to have passed quite quickly - this may be down to the fact the for every cycle I spend half the time feeling rubbish and the other half of the time working my way up to the next treatment! The last cycle I think I managed only 3 hrs in work. This was partly down to the fact that one of my colleagues had a bad throat infection and I had no desire to catch it.

This time round I decided to go straight to bed when I got home from the hospital and stayed there till yesterday mid morning. Again I have had no actual sickness, but minimal nausea. I cannot say I have felt brilliant, but not having to suffer either of the above has I am sure helped. I have taken evey tablet known to man I feel, so that maybe why. I have also been given extra strength tablets for indigestion and heartburn which so far seemed to have done the trick, but I will hold fire until the end of the week, when I expect the worse to be over. I am managing 3 meals a day - weetabix for breakfast, soup or toast for lunch and supper. I am losing weight but unfortunately it goes back on when I resume eating again - shame.

Next week Ian and I are off to Spain for 6 nights, a trip that was booked and paid for prior to said lump being detected. Thankfuly everything has fallen into place quite nicely and I have even managed to obtain decent insurance to cover me for everything. Lets hope we don't need to call on it. I am looking forward to some warm weather, but am unable to sunbathe or swin, but intend to read and bead.

Well that is the update for now as I am getting tired  - thank you for reading!

xxx
